Welcome!
I am looking forward to a successful and rewarding year with your child. Below is some general information, which you will find helpful during the school year.
Agendas
Mrs. Mironuk's grade 2 students will come home daily with an agenda/school planner in their backpack. Any homework or important messages will be written down and any important papers will be folded and placed in the front pouch of the agenda. If you are sending money to school, please remember to write what it is for on the outside of the envelope, along with your child's name. Please keep this agenda in a safe place and return it to school daily.
Milk Cards
Milk cards will be available for sale in the office, stating in October. The office accepts e-Transfers, or you can send money in an envelope with your child's name and choice of chocolate or white milk. The cost of a card is $10.00 for 10 or $20.00 for 20.
Water Bottles
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school to keep on their desk. There is a water fill station in the hallway. Please ensure that the water bottle is labelled with your child's name. Please send a bottle that opens and closes easily (to avoid spillage). Water bottles will be sent home every Friday for a good cleaning at home. Please remember to send the water bottle back to school with your child at the beginning of every week.
Homework
In Grade Two, a small amount of homework is expected (15 - 20 minutes/evening). Home Reading is the main homework expectation for primary students. Home Reading will begin in September. A list of weekly Spelling words will be sent home to study as well. Any unfinished work will be sent home with your child, if the work was not completed during class time. If you are working on unfinished work at home, simply send it back to school when it has been completed.
Expectations and Rules
Our school rules are posted throughout the school, and I will be reminding students to follow them in our classroom, washrooms, hallways and on our playground.
They are:
Be respectful
Be responsible
Be safe
Follow directions the first time
I am looking forward to getting to know your child over the course of this school year. Grade 2 is such a special time in your child's life and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
If you ever have any questions or concerns about anything, please do not hesitate to contact me either through a phone call at school or a note passed to me by your child, or written in your child's planner. You can also email me at school. I am here for you and your child.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Alison Mironuk
