Dear Parents,
We all want our children to develop good reading habits. Reading is an important skill to learn in school, but like all skills, requires practice. The grade 2 students will be participating in a "Home Reading Program" and your help is requested for its success.
Starting in September, your child will come home with a Home Reading bag at the beginning of each week, with some "good fit" books. Enclosed in the Home Reading bag, you will find a list of strategies to help with your child's reading practice time. Please send the Home Reading books and bag back to school at the beginning of each week, so that your child can select new books for the coming week.
The students are welcome to read their own books from home, from our school library, our classroom library, or the public library. The key is to find the "good fit" book, get into a reading routine at home, and keep reading a positive experience.
